Built-in sound
Section titled “Built-in sound”The built-in synth is the quickest diagnostic output. Choose a waveform and set envelope, filter, and level before adding time-based effects.
- Attack: time to reach full level.
- Decay: time to settle from the initial peak.
- Sustain: held level.
- Release: fade after note-off.
- Cutoff / resonance: brightness and filter emphasis.
Delay and reverb
Section titled “Delay and reverb”Delay adds repeats; feedback controls how long they continue. Reverb adds a shared room tail. High delay feedback and long synth release can sound like stuck notes even when MIDI ownership is correct, so reduce both when debugging.
Tempo-sync controls appear only on surfaces that implement them. The browser’s current audio adapter may expose fewer synchronized controls than desktop or plug-in builds.
Levels
Section titled “Levels”Set input, harmony, canon, and counterpoint role levels where role mixing is supported. Keep the master below clipping when several generated voices attack together.
External instruments
Section titled “External instruments”When routing MIDI to another instrument, Contrapunk no longer controls that instrument’s envelope, sustain behavior, or effects. If notes linger, check the destination’s sustain pedal, release time, MIDI monitor, and all-notes-off handling.
