Choose a Surface
Contrapunk shares one Rust harmony core across several surfaces, but each surface has different input, output, and host capabilities.
| Surface | Best for | Input | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop app | Standalone performance and routing | MIDI; supported audio devices | Built-in sound and MIDI |
| Browser app | Immediate evaluation and portable practice | Web MIDI; browser audio where available | Web Audio and Web MIDI |
| VST3 / CLAP | DAWs with modern MIDI-effect support | Host note events | Host note events and editor |
| Contrapunk AU | Logic MIDI FX | Logic MIDI input | MIDI to the instrument channel strip |
| Contrapunk Guitar AU | Logic audio tracks | Mono or stereo track audio | Audio passthrough plus virtual CoreMIDI output |
Capability differences
Section titled “Capability differences”Controls appear only when the active adapter supports them. A hidden control is not necessarily missing from the core; the current surface may not expose the required routing, transport, persistence, or audio path.
The browser cannot host desktop CLAP instruments. Logic does not send track audio into a MIDI FX slot. Guitar pitch tracking in Logic therefore uses the separate Contrapunk Guitar Audio FX component.
