Desktop App

The desktop app is the most direct standalone environment for device selection, built-in sound, and MIDI routing.

  1. Connect MIDI and audio devices before launch.
  2. Open Input and select the controller or supported guitar interface.
  3. Choose built-in sound or a MIDI output.
  4. Set key, scale, and harmony.
  5. Play one note and confirm both the piano and status display respond.

Route Contrapunk to a hardware synth, another application, or a virtual MIDI port. Disable direct monitoring paths that also send the original controller to the destination unless you intentionally want an unprocessed layer.

The standalone transport supplies tempo and beat phase to canons, Species II–IV, delayed echoes, and pattern lanes. Immediate harmony works without transport unless the selected arrangement says otherwise.

Select the interface and channel carrying the clean guitar signal. Calibrate when the surface offers calibration, then keep interface gain and guitar level stable. A calibration profile cannot compensate for clipping, heavy effects, or a different input channel.

Release notes and stop transport before disconnecting a MIDI device or audio interface. If a destination continues sounding, send panic before closing the app.
