Your First Session
1. Choose an input
Section titled “1. Choose an input”Open Input and select a MIDI device, or choose the guitar-audio path on a surface that supports it. For the first test, use one note at a time and avoid sustain pedal, bends, slides, and ringing strings.
2. Choose an output
Section titled “2. Choose an output”Use the built-in sound for a quick test, or select a MIDI destination. In a DAW, put a software instrument after the Contrapunk MIDI effect or route Contrapunk’s MIDI output to an instrument track.
3. Set the musical frame
Section titled “3. Set the musical frame”Start with:
- Key: C
- Scale: Ionian (Major)
- Harmony: Parallel Thirds
- Voices: 2
- Voice leading: off
Play C–D–E–F slowly. You should hear the input plus one diatonic harmony voice.
4. Try an arrangement
Section titled “4. Try an arrangement”Choose Modal Linework and press Apply. Selecting an arrangement does nothing until Apply is pressed. The arrangement changes musical behavior while preserving your key, tempo, devices, routing, sound, master level, mute/solo state, plug-ins, and transport state.
5. Release cleanly
Section titled “5. Release cleanly”Release each input note before the next one. If a note remains sounding, use the surface’s panic or all-notes-off control before changing routing.
