Input and Routing

MIDI input

1. Connect the controller before opening the device menu.
2. Select the input device and channel if the surface offers channel filtering.
3. Play one note and confirm the input color appears on the piano.
4. If the input appears but no harmony does, check harmony mode, voice count, key, and scale.

The browser asks for Web MIDI permission. If permission was denied, use the browser’s site controls to reset it, then reload the page.

Guitar audio input

Use the cleanest signal available: guitar or DI into an audio interface, no delay or reverb before detection, and enough gain for stable pitch without clipping. Mute unused strings and begin with single notes.

Guitar input availability depends on the surface. In Logic, use Contrapunk Guitar as an Audio FX; the regular Contrapunk MIDI FX cannot receive track audio.

Output routing

• Built-in sound: fastest way to confirm the engine works.
• External MIDI: choose an output port, then monitor the destination instrument.
• DAW host MIDI: place an instrument after the MIDI effect or route the generated port to a separate instrument track.
• Logic guitar: route the virtual source Contrapunk Guitar MIDI Out to the instrument that should play generated notes.

This order separates detection problems from harmony and sound-routing problems.
